Alexis Hotel, LaSalle Hotel Properties, Seattle, Washington

Scope

The renovation consisted of a custom hardgoods renovation of 109 existing guestrooms & suites, the addition of 12 new guestrooms gained by reconfiguring 17 existing guestrooms as well as the reconfiguration of four existing suite kitchen/bath combos to create a master bath for each suite. The public space side of the project consisted of the custom renovation of the lobby, guest corridors, elevators and reconfiguration of the meeting rooms.

Challenges

Some of the challenges included: the renovation of two historical buildings, each over 100 years, a short window of time to execute the design phase and construction, reconfiguration of guestrooms and suites as well as implementation of a custom design package. Additionally, the hotel remained operational during the renovation. The project involved the integration of new technology, plumbing and mechanical upgrades to guestrooms throughout the property.

Benefits to Client

The client experienced a growth of market share and room count to maximize the ownership’s financial yield. The project represented a creative investment of capital for a unique historic structure to create a new and wonderful persona for the property. The project also enhanced the guest experience through the development of a refreshed hotel identity
