Residence Inn by Marriott Barcelo Crestline Corporation Downtown Chicago, Illinois

The renovation consisted of a brand specified hardgoods design package called InnFusion for the existing 221 guestroom studios & suites along with the public spaces and complete demolition and reconstruction of the Guestroom baths.

Work also included the replacement of the existing galvanized domestic hot and cold water supply piping with new copper piping. This required new corridor ceilings on 18 of the 19 floors and demolition of interior Guestroom walls for new connections in the kitchens and baths.

The public space renovation consisted of the hearth room, breakfast room, exercise room, meeting room, public restrooms and guest laundry room with new finishes in the front desk and administrative offices.

The hotel is in an older building originally built for apartments and converted to a Residence Inn in the late 80's. Demolition of the Guestroom baths uncovered construction compromised by wear or no longer up to code as well as hidden items discovered behind the original masonry and plaster walls. These unforeseen issues required prompt attention from the entire team including the City to maintain a reasonable schedule.

Additionally, the hotel remained operating during renovation which required close coordination and increased communications between the contractors, hotel staff, and guests especially regarding use of the elevators.
